IX.2.5 Pompeii. March 2009. Triclinium, window in east wall, overlooking garden. In the middle of the yellow side panels were medallions, but it is no longer possible to determine their identity. Sogliano identified one of Paris with a cupid, and the other of Helen, but that was nearly vanished. He did not give their location in the room. A bust of Paris wearing a green hat, with cupid on his right shoulder (p.105, no.558), A bust of Helen, turning to the left, in response to no.558, faded and vanishing (p.108, no.567).
See Sogliano, A., 1879. Le pitture murali campane scoverte negli anni 1867-79. Napoli: Giannini.
According to PPP, there would have been medallions in all of the side panels of the walls, mostly undistinguishable when found.
See Bragantini, de Vos, Badoni, 1986. Pitture e Pavimenti di Pompei, Parte 3. Rome: ICCD. (p.406).
According to Fiorelli, A bust of Paris was also found here, with crook on one shoulder and a cupid on the other caressing his chin; and also a veiled Helen. Another two busts similar to the previous were seen, of a crowned poet and of a writer, both enclosed in a medallion, as well as four landscapes of countryside or marine.

This wall had a black zoccolo, the middle red panel was separated from the yellow side panels by narrow compartments. It was framed by borders with arches, there were vignettes in the yellow side panels, but they had almost faded and disappeared. In the yellow panel on the left, a sphynx or perhaps a lion can just be seen, on the right, perhaps a flying pegasus.
